Ambition North Wales commissioned a piece of research to explore the status of agri-food in the region of North Wales, with support from the six North Wales Food Partnerships.
Miller Research produced the “Strengthening Local and Regional Food Systems in North Wales” in June 2024, funded by the Welsh Government, the Six North Wales Local Authorities and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
The main objectives was to assess the scale of supply and demand of food across the region and identify key barriers and enablers for a stronger local food system. The research also provides recommendations to shorten supply chains and develop a more sustainable food system for North Wales, highlighting opportunities for capital and revenue investment.
The report provides:
- tangible insights to shape the future of sustainable agri-food to:
- shorten food supply chains
- create jobs
- stimulate further investment for North Wales
The project supports a strategic approach that will:
- help strengthen the North Wales agri-food ecosystem
- promote health, sustainability and economic growth
- support and drive positive outcomes for the regional agri-food sector
