Our public consultation on the draft Regional Transport Plan for North Wales has now closed, having been open for 12 weeks - from 20 January to 14 April 2025.

At Ambition North Wales – as the region’s Corporate Joint Committee - we developed the Plan alongside partners including local authorities, Transport for Wales and Welsh Government.

During the consultation period we encouraged the public, businesses, third sector organisations, community groups, visitors – in fact, all with an interest – to look at the draft Plan, and feedback. It was possible to respond online - via a Virtual Engagement Room, by email or by FREEPOST.

The draft Regional Transport Plan outlined our strategic policies and interventions until 2030, across various modes of transport and travel. Focusing on integration and innovation, it aimed to provide residents and visitors with more travel choices and better digital connectivity, while also reducing our environmental impact. Supporting documents included a monitoring and evaluation plan, delivery plan for local authority schemes, and an integrated well-being appraisal.

To ensure the Plan was widely accessible, it was produced as an ‘Easy Read’ by Learning Disability Wales, in a separate ‘Easy to Read’ format, and a set of Frequently Asked Questions were also published. For information, these documents and the full Regional Transport Plan (draft), are available to download below.

A draft Consultation Report is being prepared, setting out the feedback we received alongside an explanation on how we are taking it into account.
  • Our draft Consultation Report will be considered by the North Wales Corporate Joint Committee’s Transport Sub-committee in June, to help discuss and agree our approach to updating our plans.
  • In July, the North Wales Corporate Joint Committee will consider the recommendations from the sub-committee and in turn the intention is that it will submit a final Regional Transport Plan and associated documents for consideration and approval by the Welsh Government, who aim to obtain Ministerial approval by the end of September.
  • The North Wales Regional Transport Plan and associated documents will be published upon the Welsh Government’s approval.
  • The North Wales Corporate Joint Committee will implement, monitor and review the Plan.
