Unlock Funding for Your Clean Energy Project - Invest in clean energy and decarbonisation projects to lower costs, improve efficiency and unlock new opportunities. 

The £24.6m Clean Energy Fund, aims to support North Wales clean energy projects. It will empowering businesses and voluntary organisations to create a sustainable future, deliver £100m investment in the region, create 150 new jobs, and cut up to 125,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e).  

The fund comprises two separate sub-fund, targeting the private and voluntary sectors.

Applications are invited from the following organisations for projects based in North Wales: 

 

  • Businesses or private sector organisations operating in the region 
  • Voluntary organisations, charities, and community-led projects 
  • Other organisations committed to decarbonisation and energy efficiency 
  • Renewable energy generation and infrastructure 
  • Smart energy solutions including storage 
  • Energy efficiency, decarbonisation and retrofit 
  • Manufacturing and supply chain opportunities 
  • Access financial support via tailored funding for a variety of projects

Voluntary sector fund

WCVA is working in partnership with Community Energy Wales to deliver the voluntary sector sub-fund of the Clean Energy Fund, supporting voluntary organisations in North Wales to lower carbon emissions and create innovation in clean energy.

Private sector fund

UMi delivers the £15 million Private Sector Sub-Fund of the North Wales Clean Energy Fund, supporting businesses to develop and scale clean energy solutions across the region. Which stage has the project reached?

Stage01.
Determine the Project context:

The planning phase of the spending proposal. Assessing the strategic context for the project and demonstrating how it provides synergy with other projects within the portfolio.

Stage02.
Preparing the Strategic Outline Case:

The scoping phase of the project. Making the case for change and identifying the preferred way forward.

Stage03.
Preparing the Outline Business Case:

The planning phase for the project. Identifying the options that provide value for money, confirming the affordability of the project and determining the arrangements for the successful delivery of the project.

Stage04.
Approval of the Outline Business Case:

The Outline Business Case is presented to the Economic Well-being Sub-Committee for approval. When approved the procurement phase of the project can begin.

Stage05.
Preparing the Full Business Case:

The procurement phase of the project. Recording the findings of the procurement and confirming the management arrangements for the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of the project.

Stage06.
Approval of the Full Business Case:

The Full Business Case is presented to the Economic Well-being Sub-Committee for approval. When approved the implementation phase of the project can begin.

Stage07.
Project Implementation and Monitoring:

The project implementation phase. The Full Business Case is used as a reference point to deliver the project and monitor progress.

Project Evaluation:

The post project implementation stage. Evaluating how well the project was delivered and lessons learnt.  The Full Business Case is used to determine the extent the anticipated benefits were delivered and realised.
