A review of North Wales Growth Deal projects by Ambition North Wales freed up an initial £51m of funding. This was followed by and expression of interest process where our partners put forward their public and private sector proposals.

The projects demonstrating strongly on impact, deliverability, and aligning with Growth Deal aims, have been placed on a Reserve List. They are now being given the opportunity to bid for part of the unallocated Growth Deal funding in future.

This aims to accelerate regional growth through the delivery of sustainable economic projects across North Wales, which will generate jobs and meet environmental commitments. 

The projects on the reserve list are listed below:

Bangor Health Hub

To develop an integrated Health and Wellbeing Hub in a vacant former shopping centre in the heart of Bangor city centre.

Queens Market Hotel Development

Provision of mid-range, mid size hotel - a key part of a wider masterplan that is currently being developed for the area.

St. Asaph Business Park - Move on Accommodation

Development of high-tech industrial units on St. Asaph Business Park.

Holyhead Gateway

This project will enhance the port’s capacity through land reclamation (creating new land from the sea) within the harbour. In doing this, the aim is to ensure the port can meet the increasing demands of both business and tourism visits to the region. The port is one of the most used transport routes between the UK and Ireland. As the UK’s second busiest port it is an important transport link between both countries.

Western Gateway

This project will provide primary services such as power, telecoms and water for the development of employment and business premises. In doing so, the aim is to attract private sector investment and provide opportunities for businesses to relocate and expand to create new jobs. The site is located near Junction 4 of the A483, the town’s Technology Park and the Maelor Hospital, Wrexham.
