Cydnerth (Morlais)
The Growth Deal investment will fund an expansion of the Morlais project called Cydnerth, which will develop an additional grid connection allowing tidal energy developers to deploy more turbines within the Morlais zone. The proposed expansion will create new jobs and supply chain opportunities for the region and additional capacity to generate renewable energy.
Morlais is located off the northwest coast of Holy Island, Anglesey and aims to generate electricity through tidal energy. Once the infrastructure is in place, it will use some of the best tidal resources in Europe.
Ambition North Wales is working with lead sponsor, Menter Môn to develop this project.

My Role:
- Oversee delivery of the Energy Programme and its five projects
- Engage with stakeholders to maximise the value of the Programme and help position the region as a leading location for low carbon energy and decarbonisation
- Support delivery of the wider Growth Deal Portfolio and associated benefits to North Wales
