A typical household in Wales now depends on the internet to run smoothly ...

Your home and why you might need the internet

Your son has arrived home from school and casually tells you that tonight’s homework assignment is to create a presentation on his favourite Welsh folk legends in history ....

In this scenario, most of us would instinctively take hold of our phones, access Google via the app, type in “Welsh Folk Legends” and hit search, where immediately we’re served with lists and lists of suggestions - more than enough infomation to make a start on helping with research.

But what if you don’t have access to the internet ... What then?

Unless you have a degree in the subject, know someone who has knowledge in this particular field and can ask them for their help, or you’re willing to spend time in a local library searching through the shelves to no avail ... you’ll need to get online.

With facts about any given subject readily available online, getting information about anything has never been so easy.

Devices at home
Household items that require internet connection

Your internet connection is facilitated by a device usually found inside your home and is supplied to you by your chosen internet service provider (ISP).

All of the following items need to be connected to the internet to function.

Typical household items
  • TV
  • DESKTOP PC
  • LAPTOPS
  • TABLETS
  • PHONES
Other household items
  • HOME ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS (ALEXA / SIRI ETC)
  • CAMERA DOORBELL
  • HOME SECURITY SYSTEMS
  • TELECARE / TELE MEDICINE
Personal items
  • GAMES CONSOLES
  • HOME FITNESS MACHINES
  • DIGITAL WATCHES AND FITNESS TRACKERS
  • EARPHONES

Is your service fast enough?

After a long day, the majority of people sit down, relax and maybe watch something on the TV. What if your partner is watching their favourite vlogger on Youtube in the next room and your child is playing a computer game upstairs? Have you noticed that your show is struggling or slowed right down to a painful pause?

  • Want to speak with someone?

We understand that sometimes you just want to speak with someone about your specific issues and get reassurances or advice from a human being.
