Network North Wales is Welsh Government’s aspiration for a multi-billion-pound investment vision for an integrated, high-frequency transport network in North Wales. It will be a network that’s better connected, more accessible and brimming with opportunity.
Network North Wales is an ambitious, long-term plan that includes electrification of the North Wales Main Line, more frequent services and better connectivity between North Wales and London, Merseyside, Cheshire and the North of England.
It will connect people and communities in North Wales and the surrounding regions with jobs, opportunities, leisure and a better quality of life. It will help businesses to thrive, transforming the region’s economic prospects. More information can be found on the Transport for Wales website.
Network North Wales aligns with the North Wales Regional Transport Plan aspirations and policies on:
- Improved frequency of rail services on the North Wales Main Line
- Direct connections to Liverpool and improved service levels on the Wrexham to Liverpool Line
- A new station at Deeside Industrial Park
- Improved interchange facilities at Shotton Station
- More integrated ticketing
- Improved sustainable transport links to employment opportunities in the Flintshire and Wrexham Investment Zone
At the launch of Network North Wales Ken Skates, the Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales, said:
“Network North Wales is not merely a collection of projects; it is a testament to our belief in the potential of this region. It is a declaration that North Wales will no longer be an afterthought, but a leader in sustainable and integrated transport.
As we move forward, let us remember that this is not just about lines on a map, timetables on a screen or simply steel and concrete. It is about the lives of the people we serve, the businesses we support, and the future we are building.
With a bold enough vision, and when you don’t hold back on your ambition for change, you can achieve incredible things.”
