Ambition North Wales has approved the Outline Business Case for £5 million Growth Deal funding towards the transformational Venue Cymru Futures project in Llandudno.

The decision marks a major milestone in securing the future of one of Wales’s largest arts centres, creating a cultural hub to encourage collaboration with SMEs, individuals and organisations across the region.

Following the approval, the project can now move to the next stage to secure funding through the North Wales Growth Deal’s Agri-Food and Tourism Programme. A total capital investment of £19.7 million is needed to deliver the project, with match funding of £14.7m from UK Government, Welsh Government Transforming Towns fund, Arts Council of Wales.

The new development will safeguard Venue Cymru’s long-term future, modernising its facilities, and creating a new cultural hub that supports jobs, skills, and innovation in the creative sector.

The project aims to create 59 new jobs by 2036 and deliver training and engagement opportunities for 350 people.  It will also provide 900m² of new flexible space, including a new stage docking lobby and the refurbishment of auditorium facilities, bar and restaurant spaces.

The new development will bring enhanced capabilities to the 31-year-old venue, with spotlight concerts and shows set to bring new local audiences as well as from further afield.
