Ambition North Wales is calling on small organisations and enterprises in Flintshire, the Wrexham County Borough area and Anglesey to investigate its Bid Writing Support Grant, which is now open until the end of September.

Applications were due to close in August, however more applications are sought from the area, therefore an extension to the application deadline has been secured.

The grants are specifically for small organisations and enterprises developing a decarbonisation or clean energy project such as solar panels, heat pumps, hydro or insulation - that will need to apply for capital funding (i.e. project delivery) in the near future.

Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the grants – of up to £5,000 per organisation, will pay for specialist advisors to help complete bid applications and/or help provide the knowledge to successfully complete them in future.

Timing is particularly appropriate, as the expert advice and guidance provided, will help enable funding applications into the North Wales Clean Energy Fund, which will launch in 2025.

Sandra Sharp, Energy and Net Zero Project Manager, Ambition North Wales, said:

““Our Bid Writing Support Grant has received significant interest from across North Wales. However, we would like to see more applications from Flintshire, the Wrexham County Borough area and Anglesey – so that its small community organisations and enterprises can benefit from the offer and we see more green energy projects set in motion.”

This project is being delivered in collaboration with the six local authorities in North Wales – for the areas of Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Wrexham and Anglesey.

Eligible applications are currently strongly encouraged from smaller organisations/enterprises businesses based in Flintshire, the Wrexham County Borough area and Anglesey. We will continue to accept applications from Gwynedd, Denbighshire and Conwy, however, due to initial over-subscription, they will be placed on a reserve list pending the possible release of further funds.
