We have launched a new grant fund to support businesses in North Wales to upgrade or enhance advanced wireless systems to improve productivity and efficiency.

Advanced wireless technologies are revolutionising various industries by providing faster, more reliable and more secure connectivity.

In this context, we can help businesses to deploy the full range of wireless solutions – such as 5G networks, Internet of Things (IoT), Wi-Fi and satellite technology - to improve productivity.

Defined by The Department of Science, Innovation and Technology, advanced wireless technologies "enable the transmission of data in our increasingly digitised economy and society – connecting both people and things”. The use of wireless systems can bring a range of business benefits. From basic applications relevant to organisations at all scales through to sophisticated integration with AI. Emerging technologies continue to present new opportunities to innovate.

Available Funding

Grants range from £20,000 - £2 million and awards will be subject to meeting the scheme’s criteria. Successful applicants will be required to provide at least 50% match funding and demonstrate return on investment and job creation prospects.

Investment will not be limited to a particular technology or industry. Instead, support will enable a wide range of applications across multiple sectors.

Grants can only be used for capital expenditure such as buying equipment and software; as well as costs involved with installation, licences and project management until the technology is in operation. We can not cover revenue costs and all operational costs once systems are live should be covered by the applicant.

What you can expect

The grant scheme will be structured into a two-stage process with funding rounds:

  1. Expression of Interest (EOI)
  2. Full Application

The most important aspect of your EOI is demonstrating how your project will meet the above outcomes, the difference it will make to your organisation, and how prepared it is to move into the delivery phase.
